Hi, I’m Nikki and I am the founder and owner of Magnet Memories based in Wroughton, Wiltshire.
Back in 2021 I was made redundant from my long term job. As both of my children had grown up and were living with their respective partners I made the decision to sell my house in Hampshire and relocate to Wroughton to be with my, now, husband.
Sadly, later that year I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, so my career was put on hold. Within a month I was undergoing treatment and after a year of intensive chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy and a lot of time to consider the future I realised that I didn’t want to return to a normal 9 – 5 office role. I wanted to do something that I really enjoyed, from home and that would give me the perfect work life balance giving me more time with my family.
This is where magnet memories was born. After doing a great deal of research I found that most of the magnets on the market here in the UK are printed directly onto ‘bendy’ magnetic strip. The materials we use are more robust, sturdier, last longer and have a great shiny wipe clean finish.
So what was the inspiration behind the logo? My daughter. During my treatment when I Iost my hair she bought me a’ jellycat boiled egg’ which she renamed bald egg. Little egg has been on many adventures, from meeting the horses at my part-time role to flying in the cockpit of an EasyJet flight to Spain, so it only felt right to include him in this new adventure.
